Koda Telemedicine System Provided Surgery Guiding in Ya’an Disaster Area

   There was a 7.0 earthquake in Ya’an Sichuan at 8:02 20th April, 2013. The earthquake coursed landslide which stopped medical team to enter the area. Koda Telemedicine system broke through the limit of distance and helped an important surgery for a girl who is 12 years old.

   As CCTV reported, the girl lives in Zhong Ning Village while the earthquake happens. Her mother dig her out by hands and went for medical help.

   The girl was sent to hospital at 11:50 20th April. She was shocked because of tracheorrhagia. The experts from PLA 42nd Hospital of Chengdu Military District found organic damage after diagnosis the girl, and she has entorrhagia and skin breakdown.

   The experts connected PLA General Hospital through Koda Telemedicine system to ask treatment suggestion. The operation was held more than 2 hours. The girl was saved with cutting part of spleen at 2am 21st April.

   The Koda Telemedicine system broke through the limit of space. It does work while the same situation as in Ya’an. The medical supporting is important for a disaster area to get medical resource and expert suggestions.

   Both Ya’an and PLA General Hospital have been deployed with same set of Tele-consultation terminal and HD camera. These 2 points were connected through medical satellite network. They realized HD Tele-consultation and surgery guiding and saved more lives.
